All Services

Our scheme provides practical support to Carers where and when it is most needed. We provide the Carer with a break away from their caring responsibilities giving them time to themselves. We work with those with Care needs, helping with daily activities, providing stimulus and encouragement whilst supporting with independence.

Our trained Carer Support Workers replace the Carer in the home so that they may obtain a short break. In this time they can pursue a hobby, go shopping meet with friends, go to work or get some well-deserved sleep. We listen to the Carer’s and those they care for needs and work with them to decide what outcomes they would like to achieve from the service. Our aim is to promote independence for their loved one and meet their needs in a person centred approach.

When you are busy looking after someone else, it can be easy to forget about your own health. Crossroads Care can provide support to the person you look after if you feel you cannot leave them alone so that you can attend your own health care appointments.

This service is funded by Brighton & Hove City Council and the NHS so there is no charge to you, or the person you care for.

We can provide cover to enable you to attend:

  • GP appointments
  • Hospital appointments
  • Dentist appointments
  • Optician appointments
  • Counselling sessions
  • Training courses to support you in your caring role
  • Health Walks

In October 2014 we launched Crossroads Live in Care service, primarily to provide a short term live in solution enabling the Carer to take a short break whilst their loved one is supported within their own home. We have successfully completed several short term live in care placements which have benefited the Carer.

The Supper club is for Carers and their loved ones to get out and meet with others to share experiences and to increase their support networks. Crossroads Care, Alzheimer’s society work in partnership to facilitate, provide information and guidance to the group when requested. Over the year the group has grown, with some Carers and their loved ones meeting on a more regular basis. We have 7 Carers who regularly attend with their loved ones
